Brief
The purpose of this assignment is to select a famous speech and create 4-6 style frames focused on typography and motion.
Process
I chose JFK's I am a Berliner speech dating back to 1968 and done in Berlin. The visual reference for this speech uses much of the techniques seen in Swiss design, especially seen in Emil Ruder.
Emil's use of repetition and opacity is extremely unique and purposeful adding impact to wherever it is used. The grid system was also used to make the compositions feel more uniform and rhythmic, just as the speech is delivered in Berlin.
I took inspiration from the type used in the newspaper issues at the time of Kennedy's speech as well as the texture of the newspapers themselves.
